¡Al Fin-
NG2
(Sony BMG)

JAN 2007 : NG² is one of those groups that, although their career is short thus far, their success isn’t-this fun, young and energetic duo sing like they are salsa veterans. The musical DNA genes running through their veins are obvious in
¡Al Fin!, their recently released second album. Strong voices and perfect notes offer professionalism to this project. The fourth track, titled “Como Amigo No” (which is also the first single), is rising on the charts rapidly and one can see why. It is a nice concoction of Latin boogaloo-style music, with rich verses and interludes of
palmaditas. The song also blends a bit of Colombian-style accordion, introducing short bits of cumbia. Another favorite song is a sweet mambo-influenced piece titled “Maldita Suerte,” with beautiful trumpet solos by Felipe Rodríguez. Group vocalist and composer Norberto Vélez composed half of the tracks on the album, proving he’s not just another salsa singer.
